The MEDINA MARINERS ASSOCIATION is for the ordinary family river user and berth holders alike. The MMA provides its members a place to store their dinghys and a scrubbing berth for the yachts. They also hold  dinghy races for the young and young at heart.  For the cruising yachtsman and yachtswoman, they organise races and rallies in and around the Island, also to places as far as Poole and Cherbourg, plus a number of associated social activities throughout the year.

Our Mission

To promote the permanent preservation for the benefit of the Public generally and berth holders in the navigable part of the River Medina in the Isle of Wight.

Association Profile

It all began in the early seventies when the period was one of increasing change and it was felt by a growing number of people that changes being discussed in the river use were in danger of not recognizing the needs of the berth holders. With a nucleus of interested people the Association was formed in March 1972 with the aim of "protecting and furthering the interests of the users of the River Medina".

By the early eighties with steady membership numbers the Association looked to improve its facilities. To this end, financed from members donations and grants raised from such bodies as the Sports Council, dinghy storage facilities, a launching slip and a meeting hut were constructed. Now with the improved financial position the Association in 1981 applied for and were granted charitable status. In doing so it reaffirmed its aims and objectives to promote and protect the leisure users interests in the river and to protect the environs for the benefit of the community as a whole.
