Facilities

The Association is able to offer a number of facilities that it is hoped will be of interest to potential members, as well as useful to existing members.

Dinghy Park

The Association has a large fenced dinghy park just to the south of the Folly Inn, with access onto the concrete public slipway that allows launching in virtually all states of tide into the Medina River.  There are marked spaces for approximately 250 dinghies, these usually being 5ft or 6ft wide and long enough to store boats of up to approx 11ft in length.  Concrete pathways provide access to the dinghies, and the park is subject to regular weed killing treatment and hedge trimming to keep it in a tidy state.  It is recommended that members make arrangements to secure their dinghies when stored in the park.

Oar House

Nearby to the dinghy park is a secure oar house, which provides plentiful storage space for masts, oars etc and other boat related equipment.  Unfortunately, to avoid fire risk, outboard engines cannot be stored in here other than electric outboards.

Dinghy Rack

In the Association’s harbour office compound, just to the north side of the Folly Inn, a dinghy rack is available for approximately 20 smaller dinghies.  It is particularly suited to smaller inflatables, although again, members are recommended to ensure their dinghies are secured.  It is fairly easy to launch from the shore here other than at lower tide levels.

Scrubbing Berth

Just in front of the harbour office compound, accessible past the northern end of the Folly Inn visitor pontoon, is a piled scrubbing berth.  This is also available for use by non-members of the Association, although the fee does include temporary membership of the Association for insurance purposes.  The berth can take yachts of up to 10 tonnes with a maximum draft of 6ft.  This facility has to be pre-booked through the Bosun, and a booking form is available on the web site for printing.

Haul Outs and Temporary Storage Ashore

For smaller boats, it is possible for these to be hauled ashore in the harbour compound, subject to space and the availability of suitable trailers and/or cradles.  Again, this needs to be arranged through the Bosun.
