Cowes Harbour

The Harbour is a Trust Port managed by Cowes Harbour Commission.  The main vehicle for consultation with the various harbour stakeholders is the Cowes Harbour Commission Advisory Committee (CHCAC), which meets on a quarterly basis and has representatives from various bodies such as Red Funnel, Cowes Business Association, Cowes yacht clubs, sailing schools, marinas and so on.  Medina Combined Clubs has two representatives.  They look after up river interests, that is, those of berth holders and river users south of the Cowes Chain Ferry.  Reports from recent Advisory Committee meetings can be viewed by clicking the links below.

Issues discussed either through the Advisory Committee or direct that we have been involved with include speed limits and wash within the harbour, chain ferry rights of way, water and power supplies to the mid river pontoons, the impact on harbour dues of the Outer Harbour Project (i.e. including the proposed breakwater), signage in the river, silting and the need for dredging and Cowes Week mooring issues. We encourage members to raise any issues they have about their berths or the river generally with our representatives. To read the Cowes Harbour Commission Advisory Committee Reports click below
